Parish Poetry Group

On the first Monday of the month the Parish Poetry Group meets in the Eastbridge Common Room. It is chaired by Pat Reed. Our next meeting will be on Monday, February 6th (2 p.m. - 4 p.m.) This day will the anniversary of the death of George VI and the accession of Elizabeth II. Members are invited to read three poems about monarchs, rulers, leaders.

Willie, Willie, Harry, Ste,
Harry, Dick, John, Harry three;
One two three Neds, Richard two,
Harrys four five six, ... then who?

Edwards four five, Dick the bad,
Harrys (twain), Ned (the lad);
Mary, Bessie, James the vain,
Charlie, Charlie, James again

Will and Mary, Anna Gloria,
Georges four, then Will, Victoria;
Edward seven, George and Ted,
George the sixth, now Liz instead.
